Description

A familiar Team Fortress mod, but focused on cooperative play against monsters! The mod also includes the following modes: team coop, 4×4, capture the flag, survival, “last survivor” and classic deathmatch.

Defeat monsters, get gold from them, buy bonuses for it and play for money with traders, earn points and upgrade your character. All character information is saved! Any level from the original Quake will turn into a completely new entertainment for you!

Monsters are stronger, they have a lot of health and they have a variety of abilities, such as: double damage, sniper, support monster and many others ... Also, these skills can be combined, which makes the game much more difficult and interesting. Monsters respawn 3 times. Defeat ALL monsters before leaving the level. Nine completely different classes available to play (brief description taken from wiki.megateamfortress.com and little bit supplemented):

Right-click to use the Special button or assign your own key with the special command (for example, by typing bind MOUSE2 special in the console).

Scout

Definitely the fastest class in MegaTF, capable of outrunning and outsmarting anyone. The jetpack further increases his mobility, and also allows him to fly and overcome serious obstacles. The noise grenade stuns anyone who gets into the radius of its destruction, which will greatly interfere with his walking and aiming. Flash grenades effectively blind opponents. Unfortunately, for the sake of high speed, the scout sacrifices firepower. Even the best scout can lose, so always be faster than your opponent!

Equipment

Bit – high damage in close combat, also has a high chance of critical damage.
Shotgun – a classic boom stick.
Mac-10 – a submachine gun used by special forces.
Flash Grenade – blinds enemies within the blast radius for a short period of time.
Noise Grenade – stunned enemies cannot fire effectively or move.

Special Abilities

Flash Mine – blinds an enemy who steps on it.
Toaster – thrown like a grenade, allows you to trick your opponent.
Defuse Explosive Pack – allows you to defuse enemy explosive packs.
Scanner – the Scan10, Scan30, and Scan100 commands allow you to scan the area for enemies. When you enter a command (or press the key assigned to it), you will see a lightning signal emanating from your character and pointing towards the nearest enemy. Parameters 10, 30 and 100 are the scanning radius.
Special button – Jetpack, allowing you to get to places inaccessible to other classes. The jetpack's flame also sets enemies on fire.

Sniper

Snipers are extremely effective in defense, helping to slow down the pressure and break the enemy attack. If scouts often die, then snipers can die even more often, hunting each other. You should clearly prioritize your targets in order to survive as a sniper. It is recommended to focus on eliminating enemy snipers first, and then all other enemies. Ignoring an enemy sniper for a short time can be a deadly mistake. A few important points: learn to hide and learn to shoot on the move.

Equipment

Axe – standard melee weapon.
Sniper Rifle (Standard Mode) – To fire an effective shot, hold down the fire button until its power reaches maximum. Critical damage when hitting the head. The “dot” command allows you to turn on/off the laser pointer.
Sniper Rifle (Automatic Mode) – A special fire mode that can save you in a critical situation.

Soldier

Many call the soldier the most versatile and widely used class in MegaTF. There are always a lot of soldiers involved in defense, and most of the best players are at least pretty good at playing this class. Good soldiers are always needed. The soldier uses a rocket launcher with 50 rockets in reserve, so he rarely runs out of ammo. With the right use of his spike traps and sensor mines (as well as his own durability and destructive power), soldiers can defend themselves very effectively against light classes. The soldier can defeat any opponent, but still has some problems against heavier classes, such as the demoman or heavy guy.

Equipment

Rocket launcher – the soldier's main weapon, powerful and versatile.

Demoman

The Demoman is a walking explosion waiting for its moment. His blast-resistant armor makes him extremely effective against enemy soldiers, as well as a favorite offensive class. Unfortunately, his armor is vulnerable to physical weapons (such as the Medic's nail gun, sniper rifle, or the hwguy's heavy machine gun). The Demoman can also place homemade explosive traps that he detonates with the press of a button. Trap bombs make the Demoman an excellent defender. A good Demoman can efficiently mine the approaches to a position and thus greatly spoil the enemy's offensive. Finally, the Demoman can plant explosive packages. When the countdown on the explosive pack reaches zero, it will deal massive damage to enemies unlucky enough to be in the blast radius.

Equipment

Axe – standard melee weapon.

Grenade Launcher – the demolition man's primary weapon. Can switch between different firing modes: trap bomb (key 4, detonated by Special button), long-range shot (key 5), regular grenades (key 6).

Multi-Grenade – splits into many smaller grenades upon explosion.

Special abilities:

Flying Multi-Grenade – Launched in the direction of the demolition man's view and flies forward for a while, then explodes, showering enemies with grenades.
Toaster – Thrown like a grenade, allows you to trick the enemy.
Laser Trap – Attached to a wall. Explodes if the enemy crosses the laser beam.
Explosive Packet – The ; ‘ \ keys or the Det5, Det20 and Det50 commands allow you to plant an explosive pack with the appropriate timer.

Medic

The Medic is an excellent support class. Used primarily in defense, it can significantly complicate the enemy's attack. By hitting teammates with a special medpack-axe, you can restore their health. You can also cure stun and blindness from grenades, leg damage from spike traps, or remove hallucinations caused by a Spy's gas grenade. All this can really help the defense, which will sooner or later suffer from the above ailments. You can also fill the Engineer's dispensers with health, which will allow your allies to heal if you are not nearby. But to be honest, the Medic can do much more than just heal allies. He can also stand up to other classes in battle. Hitting an enemy with a Bio-Axe will gradually inflict damage from the disease on them. Even if you hit the enemy only once, they will not be able to get rid of the harmful effect on their own, only with the help of a Medic. The Medic also has a super nail gun (one of the best weapons in the game), which makes them a dangerous opponent. If the Medic has high firepower and speed, this means that they lack durability. To effectively support your allies, you need to learn how to dodge enemy shots well and accurately throw stun grenades.

Equipment

Bio-Axe – A unique melee weapon for the Medic that infects enemies with diseases. One hit is enough – and your enemy is doomed (unless a friendly Medic helps them).
Shotgun – a classic boom stick.
Double-Barrel Shotgun – Not without reason, a powerful melee weapon that is so beloved by many.
Super Nailgun – A machine gun that shoots sharp spikes. An incredibly effective weapon.
Medical Axe – A special axe that, when used to hit an ally, will restore their health.

Drug Syringe – Throw medicine that your ally can pick up to restore their health.
Toaster – Throws like a grenade, allows you to trick your opponent.
Heal Yourself – the ability to get rid of diseases and negative effects.
Medical Kit – throw a medical kit, thanks to which the medic and his allies can restore health.
Special Button – throw a syringe with medicine.
Healing Aura – The medic can use the healing aura “cmd aura”, the power and radius of which depends on the character’s level and the “masters of healing” ability.

Hwguy (Heawy Weapons Guy)

A walking tank with the corresponding firepower. Slow speed is its only drawback. Effective both in defense and in attack. Deadly (if you haven't figured it out yet). Most classes can fire everything they have at it - and it will still survive. A heavy 20-millimeter cannon, firing 10 shells at a time, can literally mow down opponents. Your assault cannon fires an endless stream, not giving enemies a second to rest. If you think that the heavy guy is unstoppable - be careful, because if you run out of ammunition, you will immediately become easy prey.

Equipment

Assault cannon – a weapon of incredible power. It has two fire modes – a machine gun that shoots an endless stream, and a 20-mm cannon that shoots very powerful charges, but quickly uses up ammunition. Switch the mode by pressing the 7 key.
Grenade – classic fragmentation grenade.
Multi-grenade – upon explosion, it splits into many small grenades.

Special Abilities

Pyro

Speed ​​and huge thermal potential. The Pyromaniac is a fairly versatile class, capable of solving many combat tasks. Armed with a flamethrower and napalm launcher, the Pyromaniac can set enemies on fire and hold back the onslaught. He is especially good at defense – he can easily hold back attacks from lighter classes in a small area. His speed allows him to fly into heavier classes and burn them.

Equipment

Chainsaw – surrounded? Out of ammo? No problem, turn on the chainsaw and break into the crowd of enemies!
Shotgun – a classic boom stick.
Flamethrower – a pyromaniac's calling card. It can set the ground under enemies on fire, which saves ammo.
Incendiary Cannon – a launcher that shoots napalm rockets. Very useful if the stream of flame does not reach the enemies.
Grenade – a classic fragmentation grenade.
Napalm Grenade – explodes several times over a short period of time, causing damage and setting unlucky enemies on fire.
Special Button – switches to the flamethrower.

Lava Pool – a trap that deals fire damage to enemies who step into it.
Toaster – thrown like a grenade, allows you to deceive your opponent.

Spy

The Spy is a very valuable attack class. Firstly, they can disguise themselves by taking the form of someone from the enemy team. The enemy will simply let you pass by them if you are smart enough and well disguised. In addition, while you are disguised, enemy turrets will not fire at you. In co-op mode against monsters, the Spy is also invisible to enemies, but some of them have the ability to expose spies. Of course, you cannot shoot without losing your disguise, but you can throw grenades. The Spy is a close combat specialist and is able to defeat most light and medium classes instantly by sneaking up from behind. The Spy Dagger deals much more damage than any other melee weapon class. Spies also use a grappling hook to quickly cover long distances and access hard-to-reach places. The Spy's main weapon is a tranquilizer - it slows down enemies almost to a standstill, after which they can be finished off with a dagger without unnecessary noise. They also have the ability to simulate death, confusing the enemy. Finally, each Spy is given a backpack trap. It looks like a regular backpack with ammunition, but when an enemy picks it up, all its ammunition disappears. Beware of enemy Spies who can reveal your disguise.

Equipment

Tranquilizer - the Spy's main ranged weapon. Deals damage to enemies and slows them down.

Grappling Hook – Used to quickly cover long distances and access hard-to-reach places. Also capable of tearing enemies apart.
Grenade – A classic fragmentation grenade.
Gas Grenade – Releases gas that deals periodic damage to all enemies in the area of ​​effect. Also causes hallucinations in enemy players.

Special Abilities

Trap Backpack – Looks like a regular backpack with ammunition. The enemy who picks up the trap loses all their ammunition. Monsters take damage.
Toaster – thrown like a grenade, allows you to deceive your opponent.
Special Button – opens the spy menu, allowing you to disguise yourself and pretend to be dead.

Engineer

The Engineer can build turrets, ammo dispensers, and teleporters. All of this is crucial for the team to win. If your team can do without a turret, then installing one near the flag or other significant points allows you to protect the rear from enemy spies. The Engineer uses energy ammunition as a construction resource. Building a turret costs 130 energy units and another 130 for each upgrade. The dispenser costs 100 units. Turrets can be upgraded two more times after construction. The third level of the turret can instantly destroy almost any class. Only disguised spies can slip through unnoticed. Light classes are usually an easy target for the turret. Heavy classes and Spies will try to use grenades to destroy your turret. It is recommended that you focus your fire on the heavy classes while the turret deals with the light ones. Engineers also use magnetic mines, which, when stepped on, magnetize the enemy in place for 15 seconds. Take advantage of the moment by attacking them from a distance that is out of their reach, or throw grenades from around the corner.

Equipment

Wrench - With the wrench in hand, press the special button (default right mouse button) to open the construction menu. Hit your structure with the wrench to open the maintenance menu (refuel, repair, etc.).
Railgun - The Engineer's primary ranged weapon with two firing modes - a normal shot and a super shot. Press the weapon select button again (default 2) to switch firing modes.
Double-Barrel Shotgun – Not without reason, this powerful melee weapon is so beloved by many.
Gravity Gun – Allows you to carry built objects, as well as other objects.
Grenade – A classic fragmentation grenade.
Electromagnetic Grenade – Deals colossal damage to enemy devices. Explodes nearby ammo boxes.

Special Abilities

Magnetic Mine – Stepping on it magnetizes the enemy to the spot for 15 seconds.
Toaster – Throws like a grenade, allows you to deceive the enemy.
Laser Drone – Launches a drone that flies forward and attacks enemies in its path. Explodes at the end, dealing massive electromagnetic damage. Cooldown: 1 minute.
Build – Using a wrench, you can build a turret, tesla turret, dispenser, teleporter, as well as upgrade and maintain them. The commands “detdispenser” and “detsentry” explode the dispenser and turret, causing damage to enemies.

Instructions for launching the game

1) Extract the archive.
2) In the Quake folder, launch MegaTF Coop Launcher.exe, click Start MegaTF Server.
3) If the server has launched successfully (a green MVDSV window has appeared), launch the game by clicking Launch Quake.
4) MANDATORY change the player's name to your own in Options > Player (NewPlayer by default), since statistics will be saved to your nickname.
5) Open the console “~” or “`” and type: connect 127.0.0.1
6) Play! In the MVDSV window, you can install any map - the command map “map name” (for example, map hip1m1) It is recommended to close the server via QUIT. If you simply close the window, the server will continue to hang in the processes.

P.S. If for some reason the launcher does not work for you, run mvdsv_71.exe with the parameter +gamedir fortress +exec coop

Basic Commands and Keys

Type the command "changeclass" in the console to open the class selection menu. The change takes effect after respawning. Or you can just type the class name. After entering the command “randompc” you will be respawned as a random class each time.

Right-click to use your class’s special ability (for example, a sniper’s scope) or assign your own key to the "special" command (for example, by typing bind MOUSE2 special in the console)

Grenades – Make active use of grenades. Z is a regular grenade, X is a special grenade, which is specific to each class (or assign your own keys to +gren1 and +gren2).

Special abilities. Among other things, each class has special abilities that are used on the keys C, V, B, and N (or assign your own to Drop1, Drop2, Drop 3, and Drop 4). Scout scanner with maximum range – G key (or assign your own keys with scan10, scan30 and scan100 commands). Demolitionist's explosive pack – keys ; ‘ \ or Det5, Det20 and Det50 commands.

Other commands

mega – open MegaTF menu.
ir – night vision.
lay – turn on or off “lay down” mode. When your character is not moving, he lies down.
chute – open parachute (left Alt by default). Cooldown is 15 seconds.
holo – use hologram.
dropammo – drop some ammo to share with allies.
discard – drop ammo that your class does not need.
heal – eat a can of pork and beans.
yell, taunt – commands used to communicate with teammates. By default, the keys are “[” and “]”.
timeleft – place a mini-turret (not to be confused with the engineer’s turret), which lasts for several minutes (replaced the standard sound with another one, because it was hell for the ears). Attention! When this turret destroys enemies, you do not get frags or experience!
uptime – server uptime.
showloc – show coordinates (useful for developers).

Press the 8 key to view general information about your character, such as gold and experience.

Leveling up a character. Type "cmd attrib" in the console (or the L key by default). You will be given a list of skills, such as fire rate, reload, etc. At the bottom, the number of attribute points you have earned will be written. Check this number regularly. Then, when you have 1 (or several, depending on your level) points, type the "cmd spend" command with the skill number (from the cmd attrib list) and you will get a message that your skill has been successfully upgraded, or not upgraded if you don't have enough points. At level 80, you will receive the Xav needle gun. Use the “impulse 9” command to activate it instead of the shotgun/tranq/electric gun.

All classes can buy and sell upgrades, power-ups, and other items from merchants. The “cmd inv” command (the “I” key by default) gives you a list of your items. Items are used with the same command + the item number (for example, “cmd inv 2”). Also, the “inv” command (without cmd) shows the total amount of your ammunition and other items.

There is also a system of custom skins! Use “cmd customskin x”, where x is the name of the skin. Skins are in the fortress > skins folder. There are already 1177 skins in the folder, all you have to do is choose yours! This feature becomes available after the character reaches level 10.

The new version now allows you to summon minions! To do this, you need to upgrade the “minion summon” attribute and then enter the “cmd summon” command (or the “J” key by default) near the body of the monster you want to summon to help you.

For a full list of commands, enter "cmd help".

Performance

By default, the graphics in the pack are set to maximum. If you experience lags, the main reason is usually dynamic lighting. You can turn it off in Options > Graphics > Lighting (at the very bottom) > Dynamic Lights. Also in this section at the very top there are presets (GFX Graphics Preset), which allow you to quickly change the overall graphics level.

Anti-aliasing is disabled by default. You can enable it as follows:

Open the file with notepad: “Game folder > ezquake > configs > config.cfg”, look for the heading “//OpenGL Rendering”, and insert under it:

gl_multisamples “4”

Maps

The mod works not only on the original Quake maps, but also on custom ones. This pack already has about ~3700 maps pre-installed.

Classic Team Fortress with bots

The package also includes classic Team Fortress, which supports bots. More details about it in ClassicTFBots.txt

Online

If you launch the server via “MegaTF Coop Launcher.exe”, MVDSV by default hooks master.cfg (command +exec master), which contains all currently running master servers. If you have an external IP address and port 27500 is open (used by default), your server will be visible in the lists of other players' servers, and you may be lucky enough to “catch” a couple of live players and have some fun. If you want to play alone, open masters.cfg and comment out the line with two slashes (note: “// setmaster…”).

Sources, editing, compiling…

Fortunately, the author of the mod has opened the sources. They are located in the “fortress > src > Uber-Team-Fortress-master” folder. The Uber-Team-Fortress-master_mod folder contains the sources with my edits (more details about the edits in Pet_Readme.txt).

Working with the sources is as easy as pie: we make edits to the code, save it, and run fteqccgui.exe from the same folder (we need to use this old version of FTEQCC, because it generates progs.dat of the sixth version, and the new, seventh, MVDSV does not support), in the program we select “coop_regular_progs.src”, click “Compile”, and we get a fresh qwprogs.dat in the same folder. If errors occur during compilation, they are displayed in the window, which is also very convenient. Then copy our qwprogs.dat to the fortress folder and check the changes!
